Description
The name ‘Chikan’ comes from the Persian word ‘Chakin’ or ‘Chikeen’ meaning a cloth full of needlework. Chikan started as a white-on-white (or whitework) embroidery. White thread is embroidered on pastel shades of light muslin and cotton garments. Murri refers to knots that are in the shape of rice grains. These are sometimes made using thicker thread so as to get proper knots. The lovely buttery yellow cotton saree has murri work floral butas embroidered all over and floral motis on the pallu. Comes with a plain running blouse piece.
