Description
Maheshwar on the banks of Narmada is home to one of the finest woven silk and cotton sarees of India. Encouraged and patronised by the erstwhile Queen, Ahilya Bai Holkar, Maheshwar became a prominent weaving centre in the 18th century. Today, the revival of Maheshwari is one of the more successful stories of the Indian handloom industry. Although silk cottons are more popularly woven, these cotton sarees are made to order. The warp is an offwhite yarn while the weft is different colours, in this case a lovely peachish pink, giving it a pastel shade. Comes with a red shot colour blouse material.
