The indigo exhibition currently on at Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, Ahmedabad is worth a visit for the way they have expanded the vocabulary of the centuries old dye. The artists have explored different materials and used indigo to all of them and it includes fabric, paper, metal, concrete and wood.
Commissioned by the Lalbhai family, founders of Arvind Ltd., the exhibition is the brainchild of Sanjay Lalbhai who is passionate about indigo. The exhibits include work by several world renowned artists like Aboubakar Foufana and Shihoko Fukumoto who have been working with the dye for years and some younger ones who have experimented with indigo for the first time.
